Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how NOUNUniversity handles personal information across the public website, Student Workspace, services, support, digital resources, analytics and Community features. NOUNUniversity is an independent student-support platform and is not an official NOUN channel.

1. Information we may collect

Depending on the feature you use, information may include your name, contact details, matric number, programme, faculty, level, study centre, NOUN email address, order selections, support messages, files you submit, payment references, Community activity, account/security events, device/browser information and service-interaction records.

2. Sensitive account information

Do not send passwords, OTPs, PINs or full card details through public pages, ordinary contact forms or Community posts. If a specific service requires temporary access credentials for fulfilment, the credentials should be requested only inside that protected Student Workspace workflow. The current TMA workflow encrypts credential data at rest and is designed to purge it after the relevant fulfilment lifecycle. NOUNUniversity does not need or store your full card number when payment is handled by a payment provider.

3. How information is used

We use information to create and secure accounts, provide requested services, verify payments, fulfil and deliver orders, respond to support requests, maintain order conversations, personalise relevant Student Workspace information, operate Community features, prevent abuse, improve reliability and measure platform performance.

4. Payment providers

Payments may be processed through providers such as Paystack or Flutterwave. Payment providers receive the information necessary to process or verify a transaction under their own privacy practices. NOUNUniversity stores transaction references and verification status needed to reconcile an order, rather than full card credentials.

NOUNUniversity may use privacy-controlled analytics such as Google Analytics 4 and may support Microsoft Clarity or Meta measurement where configured. Optional analytics and advertising technologies operate according to the consent state selected on the platform. Form values, passwords, message bodies, matric numbers, payment credentials, search/question text and quiz answers are not intended to be sent as analytics event parameters.

6. Cookies and local storage

Cookies or local storage may be used for secure sessions, preferences, consent choices, fraud prevention, saved interface state and analytics/advertising where permitted. Essential storage is required for account and security functions. Optional measurement depends on the applicable consent configuration.

Information may be processed by hosting, email, payment, security, analytics or other service providers only as necessary to operate the platform. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect users or the platform, or to investigate abuse, fraud or security incidents.

8. Public and Community content

Information you intentionally publish in a public Community area may be visible to other users or visitors. Private support cases, private order data and protected student records are not intended to be public. Do not publish information in Community areas that you do not want other people to see.

9. Retention

Information is retained for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to provide purchased services, maintain required financial and operational records, resolve disputes, protect the platform and meet legal obligations. Different data types have different retention periods, and security or backup copies may persist for a limited period after active records are removed.

10. Security

We use access controls, secure sessions, server-side validation, protected downloads and other technical safeguards appropriate to the platform. No internet service can guarantee absolute security, so users should also protect their devices and account credentials.

11. Your rights

Subject to applicable Nigerian data-protection law, including the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 where applicable, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion or restriction of certain personal information and to object to or withdraw consent for optional processing. Some information may need to be retained where there is a legal, security, payment or dispute-resolution reason.

12. Children

The platform is intended for people who can lawfully use the relevant services and payment features. If information has been supplied by or about a child in a way that requires parental or guardian involvement under applicable law, contact Student Support so the situation can be reviewed.

13. Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the platform, providers or legal requirements change. The update date at the top of the page shows the current published version.
